6 months since my last post...

It's September now. I can't believe how the months are zooming by. We had a good vacation this summer to Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Josiah met his grandpa and grandma, his aunts and uncles and most of his cousins. (He missed out on meeting Michael.) We even had a family reunion with my (Nancy's) dad's family - about 90 relatives... in Idaho. And, we had a great time!

Now we are into school. Our goal is to go through 1st - 5th grades with Josiah this year, get him reading, and more proficient with his English. He is in a Classical Conversations class on Thursdays which provides instruction in math, science, writing, history, geography, Latin, art, and music. He is taking piano lessons, too, and playing soccer. Sound overwhelming? I'm a little overwhelmed at times, but he's doing great so far! We are still homeschooling Andrew, too.

We will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary with him soon in October. We are so thankful for God's blessings on his life and our family.

happy birthday is just around the corner

We are fast approaching Josiah's 1st birthday with his family! March 2 - next Tuesday - he will turn 11. We're hoping to make it a great day for him!

too busy to update :/

It is hard to believe that it is already February, but it is. We've been home with Josiah a little over 3 months now. Some days feel a bit like "the honeymoon is over" but for the most part things are going well. Saturday Josiah had his first Upward basketball game. He was up, showered, and dressed in full uniform by 7:15 - for his 9:00 game. Was he excited? uh... just a little! It was hilarious watching him play: excitement all over the floor. Kind of like "pin-ball basketball- with some falling on the floor." I must say it was a successful first game (they didn't win, but it didn't matter!)

Andrew and Josiah are going to Chinese school on Saturday afternoons - for Andrew to learn Chinese and for Josiah to keep progressing with his reading, writing, and language development. On the home front our homeschooling is busy - with Andrew's schedule - and keeping Josiah in productive activity for learning. And, I'm still tutoring.

Terry had a great mission trip to Switzerland and Germany to minister to our military over there. It was good for him to be part of this team. God has opened so many doors the past few years for Terry to work with our military men and women.

Well, it doesn't look like the Groundhog will be seeing his shadow around here today. Another overcast rainy day. Have a good one!

3 months!

Three months ago today we met Fu Jie. He was cautious, serious, scared, and reserved. Now he's laughing, making us laugh, enjoying his life with us, learning English very well, reading his Chinese Bible, and adjusting. We see the moments of introspection when he remembers China and the familiar things he misses. We have celebrated Matthew's birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day, and Andrew's 13 birthday. He has seen many doctors, dentists, oral surgeons... and is crazy funny on pre-surgery medicine. We all enjoy watching the little video I got of him that day! I'd post it on here if I knew how. Anyhow, life goes on... and we are thankful and blessed.
